Our first geocaching adventure completed! Lineberger Park!Months ago, our friends, the Boyces, told us about their many family geocaching adventures that they had enjoyed!!!
What is GEOCACHING?
Basically you are given coordinates online of a specific cache "hiding" in your community, you plug them in your GPS and go searching for the cache... you may find a special trinket in there for trading or a Log Only cache where you sign your name!
Well tonight... we were looking for something different to do and we checked our www.geocaching.com.
We're HOOKED! :) We loaded the Groundspeak's Geocaching App on my iPhone and we were off! We chose a Cache close by... and landed at Lineberger Park. The listing gives you clues and hints and the Groundspeak App has an interactive map as well.
Our first cache was titled "Memorial in the Park". We wandered for a while at Lineberger Park and then I recognized the Memorial. Hint given: Capped off. We searched and searched and I found our first cache! I won't give any more hints as to where it was just in case you want to try it out for yourself... but it was kinda tricky! It was a LOG ONLY cache... we dated and signed the paper! Super fun!
We went on another search for our second geocache search closer to downtown Gastonia without success... I felt like we were super super close but did not find it! It was getting dark and late. Quite addicting I might add... we plan on going back tomorrow to search some more!
